Verizon residential customers in the New York Metropolitan area, not including NJ, generally have the choice of two base billing plans, Message rate and Flat rate local. Message rate calls are 10.6 cents per call anywhere within your region, no matter how long the call is. Flat rate local, available on Long Island and in Westchester counties allows unlimited and untimed calls within your local calling area. Your local calling area may not be the entire region. Verizon and most other telephone service providers also have optional calling plans that may allow you to make unlimted calls to a larger area.
